4-Day Gorillas & Kigali City Tour
Rwanda’s two most powerful experiences — the gorillas and the city that rose from the ashes.
This four-day journey brings together two very different sides of Rwanda. In the north, you encounter mountain gorillas in one of the world’s last remaining highland forests. In the capital, you walk through a city that has rebuilt itself into something extraordinary — clean, forward-looking, and quietly inspiring.
Rwanda is small enough that both experiences fit naturally into a single itinerary. Izuba connects them with care: the right pacing, the right guides, and the kind of small details that turn a good trip into something you talk about for years.
Itinerary
Day 1 Kigali City Tour
Your day begins at the Kigali Genocide Memorial — a place of quiet power that gives essential context to everything Rwanda has become. From there, you visit Kimironko Market, the creative spaces of Nyamirambo, and the Campaign Against Genocide Museum at the parliamentary grounds. Lunch is taken at a local restaurant — proper Rwandan food, eaten the way locals eat it. In the evening, your guide delivers a briefing on the gorilla trek ahead. Dinner and overnight in Kigali.
Day 2 Kigali → Musanze
An early morning departure takes you northwest through Rwanda’s spectacular terraced hillsides. In Musanze you settle in, take a short orientation walk around town, and enjoy an evening briefing from your ranger guide. Dinner and overnight in Musanze.
Day 3 Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
The centrepiece of your journey. After breakfast, you report to Kinigi headquarters where rangers assign you to a habituated gorilla family. The trek — two to five hours through bamboo and moss-draped forest — leads to your one-hour encounter with the mountain gorillas. Back at your lodge, the afternoon is unscheduled. Let the experience settle. Dinner and overnight in Musanze.
Day 4 Musanze → Kigali | Departure
A leisurely morning before your driver collects you for the return to Kigali. Optional stop at Musanze market or a local craft cooperative en route. Drop-off at your Kigali hotel or the international airport.
