4 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Golden Monkey Trekking Safari
This 4-day Rwanda safari combines Kigali, Volcanoes National Park, mountain gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking, and a cultural visit near Musanze.
It is a strong itinerary for travellers who want Rwanda’s most famous wildlife experience, but also want the journey to feel relaxed and well organised. The tour includes private transport in a 4×4 safari vehicle and support from an experienced driver-guide.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, your Izuba Tours representative will welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel.
Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the hotel and prepare for the journey ahead. Your driver-guide will brief you about the next day’s programme.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour — Transfer to Musanze
After breakfast, you begin with a short Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Afterwards, you drive north to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. The journey offers beautiful views of Rwanda’s hills, villages, and countryside.
On arrival, you check in at the lodge and spend the evening at leisure.

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Trekking — Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, you transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing and registration.
You then begin your gorilla trekking experience with the park guides. Once your group finds the gorilla family, you are allowed to spend one hour observing them in their natural forest habitat.
After the trek, you return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, you visit the Gorilla Guardians Village for a cultural experience, including traditional dance, local stories, and Rwandan heritage.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking — Return to Kigali
After breakfast, you return to the park headquarters for golden monkey trekking.
This is usually a lighter trek than gorilla trekking, but still a special wildlife experience. You will spend time watching the golden monkeys move, feed, and play in the bamboo forest.
After the activity, you return to the lodge, check out, and drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight time, there may be time for souvenir shopping before airport drop-off.

INCLUSIONS
Gorilla trekking permits are issued by the Rwanda Development Board and must be booked in advance. Availability is limited. Izuba handles all permit arrangements on your behalf.
Trekking with gorillas requires a minimum age of 15. Visitors showing signs of illness on the day of the trek may be declined access to protect the gorillas’ health.
